How Scrap Car Pickup Works in North Vancouver

A pickup goes more smoothly when the vehicle description, offer and handover are agreed before collection. Use these steps to work through the details with North Shore Instant Cash for Scrap Car. If you already know your vehicle and pickup information, request a quote or call 236 760 4369.

Vehicle description, offer and handover are best agreed before collection.

Describe the vehicle as it sits today

Start with its year, make and model. Share whether it starts and, if you know, whether the wheels can roll and the car can steer. Describe damage or missing parts, especially anything that affects how the vehicle can move. If you have the keys, say how they can be made available. If you are reporting information from a mechanic, describe what the shop told you.

Use photos to show details that are difficult to describe, such as a damaged wheel or the space beside a vehicle. Take them from a safe position. A clear exterior photo and a view of the approach often give enough context to start a conversation. Keep personal documents and any building access details out of images sent with your initial quote request.

Explain the pickup location

Give the neighbourhood or postal code and say whether the car is at a residence, a commercial property, a shop or a storage lot. Describe the space where it is parked and how to reach it. A vehicle parked behind a garage door, between two other cars or on a sharply sloped driveway may need extra planning.

Check the posted entrance height if the car is below ground. For a shared building, ask who can open the gate and whether a loading space or appointment is needed. If the car is at a repair shop, speak to the shop about its release process and operating hours before you agree to a pickup window.

Review the offer and collection plan

Ask what amount you would receive, whether towing costs are included and when and how payment would be made. Confirm the conditions the quote is based on. A vehicle listed as complete, for example, may need to be reassessed if a major part has already been removed.

Agree on a collection window and who will meet the crew. Ask how to get an update if access changes or if you need to reschedule. If a second business will handle collection or payment, clarify which party is doing what. Keep the relevant phone number handy on the day.

Prepare the car and documents

Check the glove box, centre console, door pockets, trunk and under the seats. Remove personal belongings and clear any garage remote or parking permit you still use. Retrieve your documents and determine which ones the buyer needs for the transfer. Check your plate and insurance steps with an Autoplan broker, especially if the vehicle is still insured or you plan to transfer coverage.

If the car is registered to multiple owners, a company, a deceased person or somebody who cannot attend, talk to an Autoplan broker first. See the BC pickup and paperwork checklist for preparation steps and official instructions.

Check the details at handover

On pickup day, make the agreed parking route available and have keys and documents ready. Confirm the amount, payment method and paperwork with the person handling the transaction. If the offer changes, ask which condition or pickup detail changed and review the new terms before agreeing.

Keep a receipt or written record showing the vehicle, date, buyer and amount paid. For a used vehicle transfer, follow ICBC’s instructions for completing the transfer, plates and insurance. If anything is unclear, check with your broker while the transaction details are still available.

If your plans change

Let us know if the vehicle moves, a gate becomes unavailable or the person meeting the crew changes. A new parking location can change both timing and access. If you have a narrow deadline, tell us the latest time the vehicle can remain there and whether the site has a separate release window.
